The filtered water capacity is 150 litres (40 gallons). However, it depends on the frequency of your usage and the quality of water you filter. We always recommend looking for the cleanest water source you can. Filters should be changed every three months.
The filtered-water capacity is 150 liters (40 gallons). To maximise filter life, try to use visibly clear water.
As a filter nears the end of its life filtration times will become slow. If you find that your Vitaloop Origin is taking 3 minutes or more to complete one filtration cycle, it’s time to change the filter. This usually happens after the filter has cleaned 150L of water. However, if it has been improperly stored (wet, for example), or used to filter very dirty water, the life may be shortened.
Fresh water such as potable (tap) water, streams, river or lake water. Avoid water known to be chemically polluted or that has algae present. Try and use clear water – murky or silt-heavy water will reduce the filter life.
Salt (sea) water cannot be filtered.
Don’t filter hot water – that will damage your device.
The Vitaloop Origin is specially designed with a separate water inlet (dirty water in) and outlet (clean water out). They are physically separated to prevent unfiltered water from contaminating the part of the flask you drink from. If you are filtering water directly from an outdoor source (lake or river, for example), please make sure the water outlet (the top of the flask) remains above the water, and submerge your flask only enough to let water into the inlet.
The Vitaloop material is food grade as most parts are in contact with water that will be consumed. All plastic parts are BPA-free PP and APS. The material of the bottle where fresh water is kept is Tritan. All packaging used is either certified recyclable paper or biodegradable plastic.
Yes, the bottle is made from BPA-free materials.
The Vitaloop Origin weights 490g, and the filter alone weights 86.8g.
It is not safe to use Vitaloop with hot water. It will damage the filter. Cold (above freezing) water is fine.
Only water. Cold or room temperature. Other beverages may damage the device.
The plastic lower-section of the bottle and the bladder inside are dishwasher safe. The upper part containing the battery and aluminium cannot be washed in the dishwasher.
But as a general rule, no parts should be placed in the dishwasher. We recommend the filter, bladder and clean water container be washed regularly, by hand with warm water and soap.
